About Our School

Church Drive Primary School is situated in the picturesque village of Port Sunlight which is in the heart of Bebington. It should be noted however that the school’s catchment area extends significantly beyond Port Sunlight Village and this is reflected in the make-up of the school’s pupil population.

The school was originally built by the first Lord Leverhulme as part of his model village. Church Drive opened in 1903 as two separate schools catering for Infant and Junior children. Under reorganisation in 1983 the schools were amalgamated to become one 5 - 11 years county primary, coeducational day school. In January 1989 a purpose-designed Nursery was opened offering 52 part-time places for children aged from 3 years. The Nursery (Foundation 1) placements are organised into two sessions with 26 children attending in the morning and 26 attending in the afternoon.

The school is surrounded by pleasant wooded and grassed areas and is itself a 'listed building' of architectural interest. It has the advantage of being away from the main roads and has the renowned Lady Lever Art Gallery, Village Theatre, Port Sunlight Vision Museum, Christ Church United Reformed Church, boating lake and railway station all within easy walking distance.

The school has been extensively refurbished in recent years and enjoys excellent up-to-date facilities which enhance the quality of education at Church Drive.
